The Department of Culture, Organisation and Management of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the VU University, Amsterdam, is looking for a:

The activities of the post-doctoral researcher are related to an integrated research programme, funded by NWO-WOTRO, entitled ‘Farm dwellers, the forgotten people? Consequences of Conversions to Private Wildlife Production in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape (South Africa)’.

The main duties of the post-doctoral researcher will consist of:
  • Assisting the PhD-students participating in the programme with the synthesis of the different case studies conducted in the two provinces;
  • Visiting the research sites to gather additional data to contribute to the synthesis;
  • Publishing, in cooperation with the other participants in the project, on the results of the synthesis in academic journals and preparing the manuscript for an edited volume;
  • Organizing a multi-stakeholder workshop on private wildlife production in South Africa

Suitable candidates have a PhD-degree in one of the social sciences, preferably organization studies and/or anthropology.

The post is available for a period of two years. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the salary scales for post-doctoral researchers at Dutch universities, i.e. between 2 744 and 2.861 Euro per month (scale 10).
