Researcher/Research Assistant/ (16 - 20 month post)
Description:
The successful candidate will be required to analyse the contribution
of social movements to reducing poverty.
The appointments committee will consider applications from
established researchers wishing to buy out some of their time and
participate in this research project, as well as from less established
researchers for whom this will be a full-time appointment.
The research project is led by the University of Manchester and
includes studies in South Africa and Peru.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated researcher able to
work without immediate supervision. There will be opportunities to
make an original research contribution and to work closely with a
small team of committed researchers. He/she will be interested in
engaging with a wide range of institutions to identify the strategies
used by movements and explore their implications for poverty
reduction.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have: • a relevant Master’s degree • priorexperience with social movements • qualitative research experience
• requisite language skills • a valid, unendorsed driver’s licence.
The position offered is a one-year contract post, and is likely to
be renewed for a further year. A competitive salary is offered, in a
congenial work environment.
