Employment opportunity: Administrator: Secretary/Receptionist

Applications for the above one-year renewable contract post are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons, to start as soon as possible. As the successful candidate, you will work closely with the Administrative Manager in the execution of a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties. This is a responsible position for which we seek confident and assertive candidates with a pleasant and professional demeanour. The successful candidate will share the principles as described in our  Vision and Mission.



Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• A secretarial or other suitable qualification
• A minimum of five years’ relevant office/administrative experience
• Above average secretarial and administrative skills
• Computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, internet, databases)
• Ability to work under pressure with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in the taking of accurate and detailed minutes
• A valid, unendorsed drivers’ licence
• Prior knowledge of administrative processes within a tertiary educational institution would be advantageous



Key Performance Areas:

• Provision of administrative and secretarial support to staff and visitors
• Organisation of meetings, and travel logistics
• Operation of the reception area
• Performance of financial and logistical tasks
• Performance of tasks related to office maintenance
• Performance of miscellaneous admin-related duties

Marine governance in the EU: South African perspectives
In this seminar presentation, Prof Raakjær spoke about the project to develop a set of fully-costed ecosystem management options to achieve the objectives set by the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Habitats Directive, and with reference to the proposed Maritime Policy.
