Gender, sustainable production systems and land reform in the Eastern Cape (1997–99)

This project investigated options for the design of sustainable livelihood systems for the beneficiaries of land reform, particularly women, in a land redistribution project in the Eastern Cape (Gallawater A). It focused on three issues: smallholder agricultural systems and gender relations; institutional frameworks; and the environmental impact of livelihoods systems. Research report no. 5 vol 1
