Tenure security, environment and economic development on the Wild Coast (1997–2000)
This project investigated a key
policy issue: how to reconcile rural development, land tenure reform,
environmental conservation and private sector investment within an
overall framework which harnesses profit-making activities to transform
poverty-stricken rural areas. This project was carried out in three
sites along the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape, where private
developers are encouraged to invest in ecotourism. Research report no.
