Workshop: Decentralised Land Reform in Southern Africa

workshop participants

On 22 and 23 April 2008, we hosted a regional workshop in response to a growing call for opportunities to exchange experiences and insights on decentralised land reform in the southern African region. We invited practitioners, policy makers and scholars in land reform working in the southern African region.  The workshop took place at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre in Johannesburg.

The goal of the regional workshop was to raise awareness and understanding of best practices in decentralised approaches to land reform in regional and national institutions dealing with land and rural development. The two-day facilitated workshop included a number of thematic and plenary inputs and group discussions about country experiences of decentralised approaches to land reform. These discussions aimed to provide valuable input in understanding decentralised policy and practice in land reform.
