Ursula Arends - Administrative Manager
Ursula Arends worked as a high school teacher and community worker before joining PLAAS in 1999, as Administrator of a range of PLAAS programmes. She holds a BA Hons (Gender Studies), a Secondary Teachers’ Diploma (UWC), and a Diploma in Adult Education (UCT).
As Administrative Manager she assumes responsibility for the overall management of the administrative and HR functions at PLAAS.
Her research interests include rural development, land reform and gender. She is currently registered for a Masters in Development Studies.

Genevieve Daries - Reception and Liaison Officer
Genevieve joined PLAAS in January 2006. Her previous work experience includes secretarial and administrative responsibilities over a ten-year period at the Novalis Ubuntu Institute. She holds a Secretarial Diploma from Maurice’s Secretarial College.
Her responsibilities at PLAAS include the overall management of the reception function, the provision of secretarial and administrative support to staff, and the execution of a range of financial and logistical tasks.

Donovan Delpaul - Administrator
Donovan joined PLAAS in October 2006 as Administrative Assistant. He provides general administrative support to PLAAS staff and visitors, performs general financial administrative duties, assists with PLAAS events, and also performs vehicle administration duties.
He holds a National Diploma in Internal Auditing from Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Carla Henry - Administrator: Postgraduate Programme
Carla graduated with a BCom degree in March 2007 (UWC). Additionally she has a Certificate in Business Studies. She recently joined PLAAS in June 2007. She is currently pursuing her Honours degree in Industrial Psychology on a part-time basis. Before joining PLAAS, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the EMS Faculty at UWC.
In her role as postgraduate programme administrator, she assumes the following responsibilities: interacting with students and the general public, liaising with academics, and performing general administrative duties, such as marks administration, student registration, etc.

Nazlie Jamie - Information Officer
Nazlie joined in July 2007 to manage the information needs of PLAAS. She also manages the PLAAS Resource Centre and maintains the websites and databases. She handles the information on the Policy Dialogue project.
She has a National Diploma in Library and Information Services from Cape Technikon. In addition, she has extensive working experience in the Information Technology field, having worked in small companies large organisations, in various technical and administrative roles.

Nolubabalo Memani - Part-time Librarian
Nolu joined Plaas on 14 January 2008 as the part time Librarian.
She is responsible for the day to day running of resource centre. Main duties include providing library services to researchers and students.
Nolu has worked in various kinds of libraries: public, academic and specialised. She holds a National Diploma in Library and Information Science at Cape Peninsula University of Technology which she obtained in year 2000 and a B:Tech at Unisa obtained in 2007.

Tersia Warries - Projects Administrator
Tersia joined PLAAS in February 2007 to provide project-specific administrative support to a number of PLAAS research areas. She works closely with the chronic poverty research project, and in particular with the National Income Dynamics Study (NIDS).
Previously, Tersia worked at the Cape Regional Chamber, where she held a number of administrative support positions over a five-year period. She holds certificates in Secretarial Training, and Public Relations.
