Biography

Dr Hlekani Kabiti is a Researcher at the Risk and Vulnerability Science Centre at Walter Sisulu University, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management, MSc Agriculture (Agricultural Economics) and PhD in Rural Development from the University of Venda. Additionally, Dr Kabiti is currently registered for Post graduate Diploma in Higher Education at the Wits University in South Africa.

She has more than 9 years’ experience in research, with a focus on Agricultural Economics, Rural development, Rural Livelihoods, Social Development, Food security, climate change, water security, socio economic and Community Engagement themes. To date, Dr Kabiti has published several book chapters and journal articles. She has participated in over 20 national and international conferences and workshops where she presented on her research activities which she has been involved in. She is currently a serving as a steering committee member of the Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Research Niche area, at Walter Sisulu University.
