Abiy Demissie is a national staff of GIZ ETH where he is serving as a Rule of Law, Democracy, and Good Governance Advisor to the Integrated and Participatory Land Use Planning Project starting from July 15, 2022. Before joining the GIZ ETH, he was a lecturer at Dire Dawa University College of Law where he taught, inter alia, Environmental, Land, Property, and Public International Laws. He joined the GIZ ETH with extensive experience in Ethiopian land laws and the general land governance issue. On top of this, he has served as project coordinator for the public legal awareness radio program project and has served as a legal advisor of Dire Dawa University’s president’s office concerning property law-related issues. He obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Environmental and Land Laws from Bahir Dar University School of Law with superb grades and excellent thesis results. He studied Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at Bahir Dar University School of Law.
