Biography

Aura Angelica Hernandez Cardenas  is a Ph.D. student in the sociology department at The New School, New York. Her research interest includes environmental and political sociology, critical agrarian theory, feminist theory, processes of rural resistance, Latin American rural movements,  and agrarian history. She explores the expansion of Popular and Peasant Feminism as an approach that creates identitarian networks between rural women and rural organizations in Latin America. Currently, in her research, she is analyzing the transformation of the role of women in rural/agrarian movements in Colombia. She holds a Ba. in sociology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Ma. Cultural and Social Anthropology in the Universite Aix-Marseille I, in France.
