Jamila Wambui Mohamed

Jamila Mohammed is a Judge of the Court of Appeal in Kenya. The Court of Appeal has jurisdiction to hear appeals from the High Court, the Environment and Land Court, Employment and Labour Relations Court and any other Court or tribunal as prescribed by an Act of Parliament. Jamila is also a PhD student at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Environmental Law and Policy at the University of Nairobi and is carrying out research on women’s land rights and conflict in Kenya. She is also the Chairperson of the Kenya National Committee on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, War Crimes, Crimes Against Humanity and All Forms of Discrimination under the auspices of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR). She represents Kenya in the ICGLR Regional Committee on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. Jamila is the Chairperson of the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes – Africa Working Group and is the Focal Point for the East African Region. She served as the Vice Chairperson of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Kenya) and was a member of the Committee on the Formulation of the Kenya Action Plan on United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 on Women Peace and Security.
